Our month of August started with the end of our time in East Africa. Finishing our Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Uganda and visiting the orphaned baby elephants play in the mud at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. We returned to South Africa, driving the Wild Coast and the Garden Route from Durban to Cape Town, visiting animal sanctuaries and diving with sharks along the way. Leaving Cape Town, we flew to Sainte Marie Island, Madagascar, where we began the most amazing and humbling experience, volunteer work for a Humpback Whale research center (CetaMada) and the Princess Bora Dive Center. August was full of Africa’s many beautiful and endangered animals, landscapes, oceans and the breathtaking creatures that live in them.
